Hall Engineering or Halls as most of the apprentices referred to this fondly remembered company was located on the outskirt of Shrewsbury town in Shropshire. Halls always recruited every year a number of fresh faced local school leavers, including youngsters from North Wales as trainee engineers and many secured a job with the company at the end of their training period. Harry Barber was the Apprentice school Manager at Halls in 1967 with Walter Hartley as Personnel officer taking care of the welfare of the apprentices and John Edwards with Tony Beddows were the Instructors. All newcomers spent two weeks in the Apprentice induction room based adjacent to the Pattern shop and here they were all briefed by John and Tony on the company’s history and all the employment rules and regulations.
